Skeltz is an expressive abstract portrait built from fragmented lines, bold black forms and flashes of magenta, violet and yellow. The woman's face emerges through the layers, somewhere between recognition and abstraction. The raw marks and energetic composition give the work a spontaneous, almost rebellious character.
Skeltz is an exploration of personality beyond the literal portrait. Rather than trying to capture a woman's exact appearance, I wanted to capture an impression — attitude, energy and emotion — allowing the face to emerge from the chaos of colour and line.
